I would like to introduce you to my siblings (minus Eve, who was the bride today). Eve, Didah and Meena are all biological siblings, and Katie, Matt, Jill and I are biological siblings. However, genetically related or not, I consider all of us to be brothers and sisters. They are all amazing and I love them very much.
First, Eve. She’s Katie’s other half. They met when they were 11 or 12 and have been best friends since. She’s an amazing girl with a big heart, and we’re all gonna miss her very much when she leaves for New Jersey to start her new life.
Then there’s Didah (on the left). I met her (not really knowing Eve at the time, although I knew who she was) when I was 13 and she was 14 when we both did the school’s morning news together. She is very much her own person. She marches to the beat of her own drum and doesn’t care what anyone thinks of her. I admire her very much for that. She also has one of the most contagious laughs I’ve ever heard. It’s hard not to smile when she’s around.
Then there’s Matt. He’s my not-so-little-anymore brother. Along with Didah, he has the most contagious laugh, and when you get the two of them together, it’s the most hilarious thing you’ll ever hear. On top of that, he’s got this quick witted sense of humor that makes me laugh. I don’t know how he comes up with such awesome reactions to situations, but he’s a pro.
And Meena. He’s a year behind both Matt and Jill, and they originally met (without really knowing that Katie and Eve were friends) when they played Handbells together in elementary school. If I’m not mistaken, Matt and Jill were around 9, so Meena has to have been 8. He just recently graduated high school as Valedictorian of his class (with, like a 6.20-something GPA! Crazy!). I’m so proud of him and I’m going to miss him like crazy when he goes off to Embry Riddle next month.
Katie. Well, we all know Katie is my best friend. There isn’t really much to say that most of you don’t already know. We’ve pretty much been inseparable since I was born. The fact that we’re so unalike and have completely opposite interests (for the most part) is living proof that you don’t have to be exactly like someone in order to be friends.
And finally, Jill. Jill and I definitely have the same sense of humor. We both like farts and burps and Spongebob. She’s also very much unlike me in many ways, but I think, like Katie, it’s a good balance. We have the type of relationship where we are always insulting each other, but we know it’s out of love. (“Hate you bitch.”)
My mom is a nurse and made sure that when their grandparents were sick, they were being taken very good care of at the hospital, constantly checking up on them (even though they weren’t technically her assigned patients).
I think it’s kind of funny how we all met each other on separate occasions. It’s definitely more than just coincidence. Someone, somewhere knew that we all needed to be in each others’ lives. I think we were all meant to be together. It’s hard to find people our age who like Disney Channel, but all 7 of us do (Matt and Meena included). And I don’t know many late-teens, early-20-year-olds who want to just stay in and have a clean, good time watching tv or pigging out, not really doing anything but laughing about stupid things. We all have the perfect blend of senses of humor that fit so well together. We know we can tell any of the 6 others our secrets and stories and don’t have to worry that it will travel outside of the 7 minds or mouths. I don’t think that many people find friendships and sibling relationships that are like ours, and I am so thankful to have them all in my life.
